Snow Day

All week I've been following the weather, particularly the extended forecast. I was being faced with a hair emergency. The gray was showing more and more each day and it was getting so long it was hard to style.

I took a chance that Friday would be OK, so I made the trip up to Queens (66 miles each way). I certainly do love my hairdresser. She's so good and I get a chance to drive around my old neighborhood. Fortunately, it didn't start to snow until around 10:00 last night.

This morning, when the plows woke me at 5:30 AM, this is what it looked like.

Actually, I waited until around 7:00 to take the picture.

I couldn't get too many other pictures outside. The snow had drifted up to my back door and I couldn't open it. I live on the corner and the wind had blown the snow onto my screens. The scene was good, but didn't make for a good picture with the screen in the way. Now, I wonder why I'm not like some of my friends who take their screens out in the winter. I could have gotten so many good shots.

The tops of my windows had some beautiful ice formations on them. Here are some shots.

These were all shot from the inside looking out. I really like the way the ice formed in some places and has melted in others.

I've invited some of my friends for another blizzard party tonight. Let's see how many can make it. The roads have been, and are continuing to be, plowed. Driveways not so much.

Thank you for this beautiful sharing. I just turned off the TV's weather report and I realized that you were having snow...not as much as DC, but some fairly decent amounts anyway.
I hope you have another fun-filled blizzard party tonight. One that runs right into the Super Bowl Game!!!
