Furniture Placement

The more things change the more they remain the same.

For the first year I was married, my husband and I rearranged our living room 13 times. I was just never satisfied with the outcome.

Even when we had our house in Queens, I was constantly rearranging. The other night I looked around my current living room and saw that not much had changed.

Both in Queens and here in NJ, I have the couch opposite the TV and stereo, to the right, there is another couch with the coffee table. Off to the left there is a chair. The only difference is that there was a door to the left in Queens.

No wonder I consider my living room to be non-descript and not interesting. I'm so boring. Maybe it's time to rearrange again, after all I've had this arrangement for almost a year.

I took the TV out of the living room completely, so it's more of a gathering room to enjoy conversation and music now. I wish I did it years ago!

If it works, why fix it?

You know, when I looked back at your pictures of New York City (and they were good!), I recognized that some things should never be removed or changed. Take that shot of Trinity Church, for example. It was the hot dog vendor and the stand and the umbrella that added great pizazz to an already great picture. So I think that as long as the hot dog vendor remains a New York fixture, Mom's living room should never be changed!

Don't feel too badly. My living room remains the same & has for 23 years. *sigh* It's just THAT kind of room. Must be why NO ONE ever goes in there except for Christmas. Everyone gathers in my oversized kitchen. I am so ready to move. I just wish I could hire someone to do it for me.
