Organization & Structure

I recently read an article, I don't know where, that stated that people who are organized and make plans for the future live longer.

So I sarted making my list of things I want to do. I want to travel more, specifically to Alaska to see wildlife and the Northern Lights. I want to improve my writing and read more. I'd like to take another drive across the country and see more of our states. After reading some of the blogs from around the country, I realize there are so many places to visit. Those are my plans.

Now for my organization. Today at Scrabble, one of my friends was surprised that I try to eat at the same time each day. She said she eats whenever she's hungry. I need more structure in my life, I even prepare a "To Do" list every week. I always feel so good when I'm able to cross something off. It seems like a natural thing to do.

I've always needed structure. When I was younger, I couldn't just take a walk, I needed a destination. Years later, I was always happy when the boys went back to school, not because I wanted to get rid of them, I needed a structured, well-planned day. Up in the morning, get dressed, eat breakfast, clean, etc., etc., etc. Even my closet is organized, my blouses and sweaters are all facing the same way and sorted by color. Pants are separated by everyday and dress.

Just the other day I was saying that I just wanted to take one day and spend it in bed. My friends said I should, but I don't think I could handle it. There are even days when, in the interest of being kind to my hair and skin, I don't want to style my hair or put make-up on. That usually lasts about 1/2 hour.

Am I organized, obsessive or just plain boring?

No. Actually that's funny! You're funny! Only because I'm the same way on many things. If I don't make lists, I go into vapor lock. It's always nice to know we're not alone with our little idiosyncracies. Actually mine are referred to as OCD, lol.

No, we're all just different, that's all.

Being stuck in bed for 3 weeks now, having to be strapped up into a machine 8 hours a day and letting others take over has taught me to let go.

I've always been a laid back, spontaneous person. It has led me to discover places and people I'd probably not have, if everything had been overplanned and organized.

That being said, I do make lists...and I do have a Bucket List of things I want to do before I die.

But for me, lists are just there to remind of things I have to or want to do. If they don't get done, I don't stress about it. Life happens! :)
