Letting Go

A few weeks ago when I was putting the Christmas decorations away I found a box of clothes that I wanted to donate to charity. I separated it from the others until I found a chance to donate. That chance came this week. I heard that a local charity was conducting a clothing drive. I called and made an appointment for them to pick up my donation.

I thought I might as well check out my closet to see if there was anything I could, or would want to, donate. Once I got started, there was no stopping me. I looked at everything and decided to clear out my closet. I've been saving things, even though they're not comfortable, are a little tight or the wrong color. I've managed to fill two large garbage bags. I know there are still more that I can part with, but I don't think I'm ready yet.

I'm sure you've heard that when you lose weight, you should get rid of all your "fat" clothes or you risk regaining the weight you lost. Unfortunately, the reverse doesn't work. I've been holding on to my"thin" clothes for years, but I haven't gotten thin. Guess it's time to let someone else have them.

I just donated about 7 bags of stuff. A lot was my moms but mine too. I always got rid of my fat clothes, now I just live in them. Sigh..

That is too funny and so true...I have jeans from when I was a size 10.....no way I will ever wear them again but I still keep them jst incase....the worst is when I buy new clothes if I see them for a good price with hopes that next month I will lose 20 pounds and I'll be able to wear it....now that's crazy...Have a great week up there with all that snow...hope it melts soon!!

Amen honey! I could probably do the closet purging at least once a week and come up with a bag full. The problem is that I still wear things (that I paid lots of money for) from 25 - 30 years ago.

I'm just a hoarder who has been in denial forever.

I'm going to do that next weekend I think.
But I won't have anything left to wear...

ps. blogger has a great new spam detector that has allowed me to skip the word verification.

The reason I'm mentioning it is because this dam cat keeps getting in my way -- and I start swearing (well not really) when I have to stop and type the word verfication. ha ha
